Sync your account on your computer

  1. If you have an iPhone, you'll be able to send webpages from Microsoft Edge on your phone to Microsoft Edge on your PC. Note: If you've followed all of the set up steps and the connection is not working on your PC, select Settings, and make sure Photos and Messages are set.
  2. Click on the Install button at Edge's Google Play page and choose your device. The page will tell you if your Android tablet is supported. I'll use an iPhone X as my test subject here, but Edge works similarly on an Android device. Also, I'll assume you already use Windows 10 with a Microsoft Account and have used Edge in Windows as well.

An upcoming version of the Microsoft Edge browser for iOS will allow users to set it as the default browser on the iPhone.

The next major iOS update, which is expected to be announced today and become available for the iPhone 6s and newer by the end of the month, will finally allow users to change the default browser on their iPhones.

Edge

This is a massive change for Apple, as the company has enforced Safari as the default browser for many years already. And needless to say, there’s a chance that many users might actually give up on Safari now, switching to the likes of Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.

And as it turns out, switching to Microsoft Edge for daily browsing on an iPhone will be much easier, as the Redmond-based software giant has recently updated its browser with a new feature.

Change coming in iOS 14

As reported by Neowin, Microsoft Edge will come with a new prompt to set it as the default browser on iOS. The update was released as part of the latest iOS beta and will become available for everyone on iOS 14.

After the new version of the browser is installed, Microsoft Edge displays a full-screen prompt that asks users if they want to set the app as the default browser.

“Links will automatically open in Microsoft Edge,” Microsoft explains, pointing users to the Settings app where they can select Microsoft Edge in the default browser app section.

Needless to say, Microsoft users will be the ones loving this feature the most, but on the other hand, it’s clearly a welcome change for everybody, especially because Edge is becoming a more powerful browser on all platforms. On the desktop, Edge is now based on Chromium, the same engine that powers Chrome and a series of other browsers too.
